Eddie Brock (Venom): ENFJ

Guest Post by Csilla, ENFJ

Venom (Marvel Universe)

Dominant Extraverted Feeling (Fe):
Eddie has a constant need to help others, and he has a strong sense of justice. Because of this, he confronts Carlton Drake, overlooking potential consequences he is fully aware of. Another example is when he enters the store and the shop assistant tells him that he looks like shit. In this moment, he is completely unable to tell her any negative comment, but instead says sincerely, “And you look as beautiful as ever.” He also has a vivid mimic, so all the emotions he feels can be seen on his face. For instance, when the shop is being robbed and he cannot do anything about it, it is very clear that he feels horrible. During a bad phase of his life, Dora approaches him, and he says that he is done with helping everybody. It is clear that up to this point, he had been doing that. Unsurprisingly, he not done helping others, because as a feeling-driven person, he doesn’t take long to change his mind. When he discovers his homeless friend (to whom he also gave money before on the streets) and lets her out, he does not even think about the consequences—again—although they were obvious, since the whole place was full of symbiotes. He also avoids conflicts, for which it is a very good example that at first he does not approach his neighbour who is listening to music horribly loudly.

Auxiliary Introverted Intuition (Ni):  He has a great sense of intuition. Firstly, when he is confronted with the fact that he has to do an interview with Drake, he is not very fond of it, and he openly expresses his opinion about him, explaining that the man is a criminal. He does not possess any evidence, though he expresses his opinion as if it were fact and is very sure about it. At the end of the movie, when Venom asks him how he can know who is a bad guy and who is not, he says that you just know it, feel it, something tells you. He is also open to new and a little spiritual things, for example, he tries to meditate as well.

Tertiary Extraverted Sensing (Se):   He likes wearing clothes that are comfortable to him. He has his own casual style, and he also has tattoos, indicating he pays attention to his physical appearance. He likes a good adventure, but it’s fulfilling enough for him to spend time thinking (SeTi) about his show that he is doing as a journalist. He is aware of his environment, he knows immediately how he can release his friend, and he can cooperate with Venom perfectly, and he can react quickly in general.

Inferior Introverted Thinking (Ti): His Inferior Thinking is also really obvious. It is completely subordinated to his Dominant Feeling. Although he can think when he wants to, he does not do it instinctively. For example, when he finds the files of the Life Foundation he immediately sees that he can use the information to satisfy his Extraverted Feeling, although he does not (because he does not want to) go far enough in thinking to figure it out that he cannot actually refer to his evidence because that would put Anne in danger. He also does not see how saving his friend in the lab can put his life in danger (basically, that is why Venom symbiotizes with him). Although obviously, when he wants to and has to, he can see through the events and can easily put two and two together; that is why he is the best in his job.

Matilda: INTJ

Guest Post by E.J., INTJ

Matilda, Roald Dahl

Dominant Introverted Intuition (Ni): Most young children with parents like Matilda’s would accept their behavior as normal, as Matilda’s older brother does. Matilda, however, figures out that her father is being dishonest and correctly guesses that his behavior may get him in trouble. She also sees that her mother’s belief that women should be primarily interested in their looks has gotten her mother nowhere, and Matilda–not yet six years old–knows that she wants her life to be different. Matilda correctly intuits Miss Trunchbull’s past misdeeds and develops an out-of-the-box plan to deal with her. Matilda has an incredible ability to concentrate, which she applies both to her academic interests and in strategies she develops for daily life. Although Matilda is deeply unconventional, she understands the long-term value of blending into society. As a result, most adults overlook her more nefarious plots.

Homer Hickam: ENFP

Guest Post by Jessica Prescott, INFJ

October Sky

Dominant Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Homer Hickam is nothing if not a dreamer. He loves new ideas, hates to be cooped up in a small mining town, and, more than anything, longs for a glimpse of the “outside world.” His original (and strongest) motivation to carry out his rocketry project is not a desire to understand how rocket science works, but simply a romantic fascination with the mere idea of rocketry—the idea that human beings can be capable of sending objects up into space. He isn’t shy about sharing his dreams with others, either, but is perfectly willing to blurt out his latest plan at the breakfast table: “I’m gonna build a rocket.” One of Homer’s greatest assets is his optimism—his ability to see possibilities where others see only obstacles. Even though no student from Coalwood has ever won the science fair before, Homer is firmly convinced that he and his friends can pull it off—and he manages to convince them to believe it, too.

Harvey Dent: INTJ

Batman Trilogy

Harvey Dent INTJ | Batman MBTI

Ni: Harvey Dent has a singular mission, which he devotes his life and time to fulfilling. He would never leave anything up to chance, though he likes to pretend that he does, but rather, does everything with a purpose and a specific end in mind. He has a strong grasp of irony and Continue reading

Dr. Jonathan Crane: INTJ

Batman Trilogy

Dr. Jonathan Crane INTJ | Batman #MBTI #INTJ

Ni: Dr. Crane’s focus is specific, narrow. He does not focus merely on psychology, but on an even more specific thread within the field –experimenting on the criminally insane. He easily picks up on other people’s suspicions and is able to foresee dangers to his operations before they are an actual threat. For this cause, he has a backup Continue reading

INTJs in Christopher Nolan films

The INTJ Presence in Christopher Nolan Films |#MBTI

The first time I watched Inception, I came away on fire with excitement about the concepts that had just been left ambiguously unresolved at the end of the movie. Meanwhile, the ENFP with whom I’d watched it was left scratching her head trying to comprehend what she just seen.

We watched it again. She understood a little more, but it wasn’t until we’d seen it at least three times (and I’d explained it to her in depth) before she finally understood it.

Christopher Nolan’s more recent films, namely Inception and Interstellar, both feature ISTP protagonists. However, despite featuring only one blatantly INTJ character each (Saito and Dr. Brandt), they still bear the express markings of INTJ writing. Nolan’s earlier work however, did not hold to this trend, but showed a remarkably large frequency of INTJ protagonists. Continue reading

Alfred Borden: INTJ

The Prestige

Alfred Borden INTJ | The Prestige #MBTI #INTJ

Ni: “Secrets are my life.” Borden’s game is mystery, and he’s better at it than pretty much everyone. He deliberately makes his tricks simple because he knows that Angier will look for a complicated solution. He’s ambitious and singly focused, literally living his game of magic in every day life, where other magicians only perform their Continue reading

Robert Angier: ISFJ

The Prestige

Robert Angier ISFJ | The Prestige #MBTI #ISFJ

Si: Though theatrical, Angier is practical at heart. He tends to flow with accepted methods before trying to come up with his own, and initially rejects Bordon’s attempts to create new things (until he sees for himself that they work). Though he claims that his rivalry with Bordon stops being about his wife, it is clear from his actions that this is not true. He selects an old fashioned name for his act out of sentimentalism for his Continue reading

She has a strong desire to help other people and finds her work as a DA personally fulfilling. She has a difficult time dealing with Bruce’s lower Fi need to keep secrets and hide Continue reading

ISTJ Stereotypes in “The Imitation Game”

ISTJ Stereotypes in

ISTJs are frequently stereotyped as whining, OCD, rule-obsessed intellectuals with no social skills. Either that, or they’re portrayed as evil, emotionless cyborgs with no sense of humour. As someone with a close ISTJ friend, I understand exactly how terrible those stereotypes can be on a person. Unfortunately, such stereotypes are ever present in the media, and have found their way needlessly into the recent film, The Imitation Game. Continue reading

Ra’s Al Ghul: INFJ

Batman Trilogy

Ras Al Guhl INFJ | Batman MBTI

Dominant Ni: Ra’s Al Ghul has a focused vision for Gotham and his role in it. He understands Bruce on a deep level after only knowing him for a short period of time and is able to use that knowledge to both help him work through his problems and to try to turn him into a tool for realizing his vision of Gotham. He has a utopian vision Continue reading
