Iris – Pokémon: ISTP

Dominant Introverted Thinking (Ti): Iris hates rules and boundaries, especially the stifling ones she experienced at school. She is always brutally honest, even when her honesty is neither needed nor appreciated, especially when it comes to Pokemon battles. Iris has a disdain for book learning (indeed, she often gets textbook facts wrong) and apathy for being taught by others, preferring instead to figure things out on her own. She prefers a logical approach to problem-solving and doesn’t generally respect people who make emotional decisions. When Iris first meets Ash, she doesn’t know or care about his many past accomplishments; his battle style makes little sense to her and he gets caught up in his emotions, earning him permanent “little kid” status in her book.

Auxiliary Extroverted Sensing (Se): Iris is most at home in the wild, where there are plenty of trees to climb and vines to swing on. When she went to school in the city, she would often climb buildings in lieu of trees. Iris has little patience for fishing, which involves a lot of sitting around, preferring the excitement of a Pokemon battle. She doesn’t hesitate to put herself in the thick of the action or to react fast in order to help her friends. Iris likes to see and experience things for herself at any cost, even challenging a champion trainer to a Pokemon battle when she is sure to lose.

Tertiary Introverted Intuition (Ni): Iris focuses most of her attention on Dragon-type Pokemon, and her one goal in life is to be a Dragon Master. She sometimes decides ahead of time which kind of Pokemon she wants to catch, even if she doesn’t obsess about catching specific ones. Iris usually has an idea of exactly what needs to happen for her to win any Pokemon battle, and she is perfectly capable of battling strategically for eventual advantages rather than immediate knockouts.

Inferior Extroverted Feeling (Fe): Iris tends to have a blind spot for her favourite Pokemon type (“There are no bad Dragon-types!”). She doesn’t like having others’ displeasure, especially that of her former headmaster; she even avoided Opelucid City altogether to avoid running into him. Iris doesn’t have much of a sense of belonging with people, and much of her hard time while in school was due to social isolation.
