Inara Serra: ENFJ

Dominant Extraverted Feeling (Fe): Inara is an expert at saying things she doesn’t truly feel in order to keep the peace (“I’m glad you slept with her”). Her own emotions are secondary to her (like how she feels about Mal), but she’s easily aggravated by the crew members. It annoys her when she can’t make The Operative angry in Serenity. She’s great at putting her clients at ease (“Jaynestown”), and she was the one to listen to Zoe and Mal tell stories about Tracy when they thought he was dead.

Auxiliary Introverted Intuition (Ni): Inara says the ‘energy’ of a person is important to her when choosing clients, showing her reliance on intuitions rather than information. She’s drawn to Mal because, unlike most men, he’s a mystery to her. She easily steps out of the present, like when she says to Petaline, “This is just a moment in time,” to calm her (“Heart of Gold”). It takes a lot for her to say, “I don’t know” about staying on Serenity.

Tertiary Extraverted Sensing (Se): When Inara acts impulsively, it usually doesn’t end well (kissing Mal in “Our Mrs. Reynolds”). She recognizes traditions but doesn’t believe them important just because they’re traditional (“Jaynestown”). She enjoya being a part of tricking Saffron in “Trash,” and is quick to read her cues in “Our Mrs. Reynolds,” though not well enough to tell when she’s lying.

Inferior Introverted (Ti): Even when she intuits something, Inara is slow to realize what it means in a practical sense (like recognizing Saffron was Academy trained, but not knowing what to make of the information). She’s quick with wordplay. She almost never focuses on facts; her attention is solely on people.
