Tyler Joseph: INFP

Guest Post by Andrea, INFJ

Dominant Introverted Feeling (Fi): Tyler appears to be aware and practising his personal values, often stemming from his Christian faith which teaches kindness to the disadvantaged. This value is illustrated when he momentarily stops showing to help those in need. As an example, he asked security to help out an audience member having a panic attack during a performance. He is unafraid to challenge the mainstream music scene in preference for his own unique style of musical composition. Tyler is also mindful of how his own emotions are affected by his internal thoughts and external environment.

Auxiliary Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Tyler often thinks about numerous theoretical ideas of a philosophical nature. His writing, often symbolic, comes across as a kind of stream of consciousness in which he jumps from idea to idea in his rumination of his feelings (Fi) and experiences (Si). Musically, he is interested in composing, playing, and mixing a vast variety of genres instead of sticking to just one or two.

Tertiary Introverted Sensing (Si): Tyler writes in the reminiscent Twenty-One Pilots song “Stressed Out” that “sometimes a certain smell will take me back when I (he) was young”. He is able to confidently retell tales, such as how he met fellow bandmate Josh Dun (though he rarely speaks of this particular example).

Inferior Extroverted Thinking (Te): Extroverted Thinking (Te): Tyler is not very reliant on his thinking function. However, Tyler utilises his knowledge of such things like The Bible to create subtle metaphors and symbolism in his lyrics.
