Black Butler / Kuroshitsuji

Dominant Extraverted Sensing (Se): Grell is greatly in tune with their senses, though this is not always acted on in an entirely healthy way, making the character seem somewhat insane.
They are fond of the colour red, explaining that it represents “flaming passion.”
Their affinity for the colour is displayed in their clothing and, more extremely, when they explain that they choose to commit murder so they can paint victims with red colour.

Fond of things they find physically attractive, they freely and flamboyantly display their lust towards Sebastian, in an often theatrical way. The sly Sebastian easily manipulates Grell into doing things for him by toying with this deep infatuation. Grell jumps into action immediately, overcome with thrill by Sebastian’s seductive promises.

Auxiliary Introverted Feeling (Fi): Grell is unmindful of the expected responsibilities that are put on them as a working grim reaper, acting instead on their own feelings and values. Grell decides to help Madame Red because of their shared troubles in their inability to undergo childbirth. Through this, they defy the Grim Reaper’s code of neutrality in favour of sympathy. Grell also decides to have their regular grim reaper scythe transformed into a chainsaw, considering the former old-fashioned.

Their sense of dress, outgoing nature and dramatic flare almost pose a sharp contrast to more stoic and serious grim reapers (who look down on Grell’s rumbustious behaviour and twisted morality).

Tertiary Extraverted Thinking (Te): As a grim reaper, Grell is interested in collecting people’s memories during their deaths. Grim Reapers use a To-Die list to identify and locate those in-need of examination. These ‘shinigamis’ use this information for the review and collection of souls. However, Grell later resigns from this role to pursue their work with Madame Red.
Grell is familiar with lines from plays such as William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, using this knowledge to dramatically express their affection for things of beauty and their desire for Sebastian.

Not one to deeply ponder ideas, Grell makes their decisions in terms of the scenarios and actions happening around them.

Inferior Introverted Intuition (Ni): Determined to gain his respect, Grell enjoys imagining a future with Sebastian, despite having always failed to impress the other in the past. Grell does not take notice of patterns, which Sebastian uses to his advantage, giving deceitful promises which are always broken, much to Grell’s disappointment. Nonetheless, Grell is always ambitious in his active pursuit of Sebastian’s approval.

Author’s Note: I decided to use gender-neutral pronouns as Grell’s gender identity is unclear/debated. I have also based my typing solely on the Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji anime series, rather than the manga.
