Twin Peaks
Dominant Introverted Intuition (Ni): Dale is very single-minded and sees the world through a lens of symbolism. When solving the murder of Laura Palmer he uses odd and non-traditional methods to choose the guilty suspect and he uses a single dream he had to guide what he should do or find in the investigation. He is very good at making unseen connections. He intends to get things down to a single truth or get easy answers to hard questions as he would say.
Auxiliary Extroverted Feeling (Fe): Dale has great people skills and in the first moments of entering Twin Peaks he quickly makes emotional bonds and immerses himself in the town’s culture. He can read people very well and thus knows exactly what to say in an emotional situation and is willing to listen to others’ problems while sharing his own. Despite being a very idiosyncratic person, Dale still accepts certain social values and rules, he is almost never rude to anyone and tends to try and control his emotions, such as his frustration with Andy. He is noticeably angry at people who are blunt and inconsiderate of others’ feelings (Albert Rosenfield) and he will call these people out for their behaviour like Albert’s inconsideration of the funeral when examining Laura.
Tertiary Introverted Thinking (Ti): Dale tends to think in his head for the most part and never really explains his unusual outside-the-box methods to others to a satisfying degree. However, his logic works and he is usually better at solving problems than others at the office. He was also able to make sense of the symbolism in his dream and how to use it to his advantage. Dale likes to use theories and ideas when solving cases like the rock and bottle method of finding who was potentially the guilty party in the aid to Laura’s murder. Dale questions a lot of things about Twin Peaks when first entering and is clearly fascinated by the nature and world around him. Sometimes Dale will try something out for fun like seeing how long he could function without sleep. Dale will find a use for any piece of evidence in the hope that it will help the case.
Inferior Extroverted Sensing (Se): Dale can be very observant of his physical environment at times and is capable of noticing things others tend to look over like the spot where the TV was before it was moved or the curtains in the background of an ad in a magazine, he has excellent accuracy when it comes to shooting as he was able to shoot bullets through the holes created through by previous bullets. He can be impulsive and occasionally not think through the long-term effects of his plan, at the same time he hesitates to act in the moment like the time he was told the murderer’s name in his dream but waits until morning to talk to the sheriff. He also enjoys physical pleasures like coffee and doughnuts but is also bothered by things in the physical world such as Andy’s gun going off unexpectedly or the singing of the Icelandic guest.
