Dominant Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Jem has an intuitive understanding of what is going on behind the lines. He recognises danger without evidence and tries his best to stop it from going too far (he knows he and his sister are going to get jumped in the woods, and that Atticus might be in danger from the townspeople). He loves to explore new things and devises out-of-the-box methods for evading Atticus’s rules. He jumps into new situations quickly, often impulsively.
Auxiliary Introverted Feeling (Fi): Jem is a sensitive boy who has a difficult time witnessing injustices. He does whatever feels most authentically right to him regardless of what other people tell him to do. He doesn’t listen to Atticus when asked to go home, but instead stays with him consistently whenever he feels Atticus might be in danger. Jem doesn’t like to talk about his feelings and tends to hide from people when trying to cope with harsh times, but needs to feel that he is accepted by others.
Tertiary Extroverted Thinking (Te): Jem likes to be in charge of the other kids in the neighbourhood. He keeps a close eye on his sister, intervening in her fights and stepping in to prevent her from getting into danger. When asking people to do things, he orders them directly rather than suggesting that they do something.
Introverted Sensing (Si): Jem enjoys gathering information about Atticus’s court case. He likes the comfort of home and spends a lot of time thinking about details.

It is very intriguing that Scout and Jem are the same personality type. It is unusual to see siblings share a similar thought process. My theory is that Harper Lee had some kind of fascination with the ENFP thought process in their childhood years. What are your theories?
